Description
The lattice scale setting already represents, and will increasingly become in the future, one of the leading sources of uncertainty in first-principles calculations of the HVP contribution to $(g_\mu-2)$.
In this talk, I will discuss the procedure adopted in the BMW/DMZ collaboration calculation, which currently provides the most precise Standard Model determination of the muon anomalous magnetic moment at the frontier of sub-5‰ precision. To this end, the pion decay constant was employed, and achieving the desired precision target required controlling the radiative corrections to its leptonic decay on the lattice.
